“This was a very ambitious undertaking for us, and having never worked on a landscape project of this magnitude before, we went in with some apprehension. We very quickly realized that our property was in the hands of a company who really cared about their clients, and Dave and Kenny worked with us closely until they achieved the look we wanted. Dave is a hardscape artist and rocks are his means of expression. It’s not easy to move huge rock around, but not only did Dave spend time looking for and selecting fantastic stones for steps and walls, he nudged them into place, really caring about the end result. We were especially pleased with the way they respected the property, always leaving the area tidied up at the end of the day. Bill and I are very pleased and were very lucky to have Stackhouse Landscaping on the job.”

“My family and I are immensely grateful to Dave Stackhouse and his landscape team for helping us to protect our cottage on Damariscotta Lake for future generations. Over the past several years, we have lost more than 10 feet of shoreline (including several trees) owing to increased boat activity, higher water levels created to increase power output from the dam at the Mills, and other consequences of global warming on the lake. Planting more trees and bushes to secure the soil was not an effective weapon against these threats. So, when we learned from Wayne Jones in Jefferson about Stackhouse Landscaping in Bristol, we contracted with Dave and his team to build a 200-foot rip rap wall along the shore. This was done in two segments; the first segment was completed in the Fall of 2014, and the second segment was completed in the Fall of 2015, just this past November. It was a challenging project from a logistics perspective, as much size-selected rock and stone needed to be placed carefully on the shore to build up a base and wall that would prevent further erosion of our shoreline, without doing undue damage to the surrounding property. As I hope you can see from the attached pictures, both before and after, the resulting wall is very impressive. Not only will it protect the cottage and the ground on which it stands for many years to come, but it also integrates naturally into the surrounding environment.”
